How it works: The monthly SIP increases by your chosen step-up percentage once every 12 months. Returns compound monthly. Inflation is applied to show purchasing power in today's money. When selected, the tax estimate uses STCG only when Months is selected and the duration is 12 months or less. In Years mode, or for more than 12 months, it uses the simplified 12.5% LTCG assumption. Actual rates depend on asset type and applicable rules; exemptions, surcharge and cess are not included.

Frequently Asked Questions

Clear explanations of the calculator's values, inflation adjustments, and annual step-ups.

Future Value (Nominal Corpus) is the total amount of money your portfolio is projected to grow to on paper. Real Value (Inflation-Adjusted Purchasing Power) shows what that future sum may buy in today's money. It accounts for how inflation can erode purchasing power over your investment horizon.

Total Invested (Nominal) is the running sum of the contributions made by each displayed month or year. Inflation-Adjusted Total Invested takes that cumulative total and discounts it by the inflation factor at the same displayed time point. Real Value shows the portfolio's projected purchasing power after both investment growth and inflation.

An Annual Step-Up increases your monthly investment once every year—for example, by 5% or 10%—as your salary or earnings grow. Including a step-up in a plan can increase the amount you invest over time and may help narrow the gap between your future expenses and your portfolio's purchasing power. Choose a rate that is realistic for your budget and income.
